The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education held a workshop for students to spruce up their English speaking and writing skills. The council felt the need for the students to improve their English language skills.
The English language is used almost everywhere. Whether for speaking or writing, or discussing – there are some techniques that are very important to learn. In order to teach this technique, a ‘hands-on English writing workshop’ was organised by the Council of Higher Secondary Education on Tuesday, which is a timely effort, stated a release by the council, signed by its president Prof (Dr) Chiranjib Bhattacharjee.

Initially, the workshop has been organised with 300 students from a total of 60 schools in Kolkata and adjoining districts with the main objective of improving the quality of English writing skill. According to Sandeep Banerjee, headmaster of Bhabatarini Mondal Smriti Integrated English School, who is the instructor of this workshop, “The workshop will not be giving informative statements to the students as they would not be interested in listening reviews, so the technique of writing English will be taught.”

One of the main objectives of this workshop is to convert writing skill into communication skills. It is important to convey the message to students that writing English is equally important in all aspects of life, from the curricular framework to the professional aspect of life.
